Kema Sikazwe better known as his stage name 'Kema Kay' is a rapper/singer/songwriter/producer from the North East of England. Kema has had a passion for music since a young age and started to take it more seriously after having to face negative experiences throughout his childhood. Because of this music became a way for Kema to express his feelings and lead to him writing and recording all his own material.
Throughout his career Kema has released numerous singles including the popular “Reach That Time” and “Everything’s Alright” along with two mixtapes “The Beginning” and “Make It Look Easy”. Kema has just released his first EP "Take The Lead" which is available to download on iTunes now; https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/take-the-lead-ep/id899673833 and has already started to receive a great reaction.
He is constantly working hard to push his career to new heights and continues to develop his musical talent. Some of his greatest achievements include having the majority of his released material played on BBC Radio Newcastle and other local stations on a regular basis. Kema has also had the opportunity to perform at some of the biggest venues and festivals in the north east, such as the O2 Academy / Evolution Festival / The Sage / The Mela / Urban Games and many more. He has supported artists such as, Dizzee Rascal / Chipmunk / Krept & Konan / Sneakbo / Lethal Bizzle and Lady Leshurr. Kema was also given the opportunity to perform at National festivals such as Wireless 2013.
Unfortunate circumstances earlier in 2014 saw Kema’s YouTube account hacked and all videos deleted, this was a hard obstacle for Kema to overcome but as shown on his YouTube page his fans have continued to support him and after re-uploading all his work, Kema’s videos are starting to get even better views than they were before.
He is currently unsigned but still working hard on new music to give to his fans and developing his skills even further so that he can become a household name.
Kema has also recently teamed up with a young girl named Harriott to start a campaign called ‘Leave Them Alone’ which is tackling the issues around bullying and offering help to anyone in those situations. During this campaign Kema has been performing around the North East at Wallsend Festival and Africaid Festival. They’ve also generated radio interviews on Metro Radio and produced merchandise to help spread the word. Kema also created a track for the campaign titled ‘Leave Them Alone’ which you can find on the EP, proceeds from the single release will go towards the campaign funds. Both Kema and Harriott are currently planning a Local school tour to start in the new school year.
As well as the campaign Kema is also working on producing videos for some of the tracks off the EP “Take the Lead” and succeeding in his continuous development and growth via social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. The rest of 2014 is set to be a busy one for Kema as he will be performing at many festivals and shows around the UK as well as creating and releasing new music with accompanying videos.
